A Shoeing Tradition
Snowshoeing has been a way of life in the Green Mountains for well over a century, long before the sport became fashionable again. We've got countless ways to make tracks into the snowy wilderness, whether it's a nature trek, a climb or a winter workout you're looking for.

Get Some Winter Thrills

Snowkiting has officially caught on among passionate winter thrill-seekers in search of speed.

The sport’s surge in popularity has become evident at Kitestorm, an annual event that has novices and dedicated kiters turning out in droves to strap in, rig up and fly across the frozen waters of Lake Champlain (February 23-24 at Sandbar State Park in Milton). The only equipment required? A snowboard or skis, a maneuverable kite, plenty of wind and an adventurous spirit.

Read all about the new sport and how and where to get started in Ride the Wind on VermontLife.com.
